Annie Poole

Mrs Annie Poole, wife of a solicitor's clerk, living in Kingsmead-terrace, said during the early part of 1891 she remembered a scene outside Mr Coombs' house. The deceased was knocking at the door and crying. Eventually she was let in.

Witness had seen the deceased followed off the terrace by Coombs. This occurred on the Sunday preceding her disappearance.

From the report in the Wells Journal, 12th October 1893.

I suppose this is supposed to confirm that Elsie and her boyfriend had a tempestuous relationship (ah but who hasn't had a row with their other half?).
