A suitable memorial stone is about to be placed over the
grave of the victim of the Hampton Down tragedy in Bathampton Churchyard. The
pennant stone bears the following inscription:--
Here lie the remains of
ELIZABETH LUKE
Who was cruelly murdered on
Hampton Down.
About August, 1891.
The necessary funds, between £4 and £5, have been collected
by Mr. C. Harper, of Batheaston.
