December 15th: Elsie Luke buried

Bath – The Hampton Rocks Tragedy.

The remains of the young woman Elsie Luke, who was murdered at Hampton Rocks, were buried Monday afternoon [11th] in Bathampton Churchyard. The vicar of Bathampton officiated. There were a few people gathered out of curiosity. Some followed the coffin from the lych gate to the church, and then to the grave. The coffin bore the simple inscription, “Elsie Luke, 1893.”
